A new Star Wars star to WME! Tiffany Haddish and Julia Fox have new agents! A bunch of this year’s Sundance folks get repped! Plus casting news for Wednesday, Ryan Coogler’s X-Files gets a pilot order, and a classic novel gets a TV adaptation. All this and more in today’s Notes From the Rep Biz…
At WME:
Singer/songwriter Colby Lee Swift is a new sign for WME. Swift has been making big waves for his earnest songwriting and traditional country sound. His big single “John Deere Rust” hit the radio waves in June of last year and more singles have followed “Chaser,” “Money to Drank,” “Heartbreak Hangover,” and “The Barn.”
DJ and Influencer Tara Yummy is also now agented by WME. Yummy came to fame through Instagram, but then pivoted to YouTube and vlogging with her series “Stuck in a Car,” where she interviews people like Alix Earle, Vinnie Hacker and others. Yummy is currently on her “Tara Yummy’s Mindset” tour which kicked off in February.
Australian writer/director Adrian Chiarella has also signed with WME. Chiarella is the filmmaker behind Sundance hit Leviticus which is a horror film centered around conversion therapy. Leviticus was the talk of the festival this past year and sold to Neon for mid-seven figures. The film is set for a wide release this summer.
Actor Flynn Gray is also now repped by the agency. Hailing from Ireland, Gray is a newcomer but he has a huge project coming up…the Shawn Levy directed Ryan Gosling starring Star Wars: Starfighter.
At CAA:
Hot off of her as Nancy Wheeler on Stranger Things actress Natalia Dyer is now repped by CAA. Next up she will co-star with Kiernan Shipka and Cole Sprouse in Goodbye Girl. Dyer also starred in the films Yes, God, Yes, Velvet Buzzsaw and Things Heard and Seen.
Tiffany Haddish is a new sign for CAA. The prolific comedian and actress first broke out with the mega hit Girls Trip in 2017 and from there she’s won an Emmy for hosting SNL in 2018, a Grammy in 2021 for her comedy special Tiffany Haddish: Black Mitzvah. Haddish has had roles in Bad Boys: Ride or Die, The Card Counter, and The Unbearable Weight of Massive Talent. Next up: Girls Trip 2 where she will reteam with Jada Pinkett Smith, Queen Latifah, and Regina Hall.
Jessi Draper is also new to CAA. Draper is one of the stars of The Secret Lives of Mormon Wives. Draper is Hairdresser who runs JZ Styles in Utah. Along with her other co-stars Draper was made a producer of Secret Lives for the fourth season following the show’s Emmy nomination for Outstanding Unstructured Reality Program.
WME music agent David Bradley has jumped over to the Death Star. It is not known at this time which clients will be joining him at the new gig, but his list includes; Dua Lipa, Madison Beer, and Greta Van Fleet.
At UTA:
Writer director Petra Volpe has signed with UTA. Volpe is the filmmaker behind the Sundance film Frank & Louis (her English language debut) starring Kingsley Ben-Adir and Rob Morgan. Volpe’s other credits include 2015’s Heidi and 2025’s Late Shift.
Actress, model, and author Julia Fox is also a new sign for UTA. Fox made her feature debut in 2019’s Uncut Gems and it seems like she hasn’t stopped working. Most recently she starred in HIM and will next appear in Perfect with Ashley Moore (a film Fox also produced). Other recent projects include: The Night Always Comes, The Trainor, and Idiotka. Her memoir Down the Drain was published in 2023 and became a New York Times best seller.
UTA has also signed Writer/director Myrsini Aristidou. Aristidou is the filmmaker behind Hold Onto Me which premiered at this year’s Sundance in World Cinema Dramatic Competition and it won the audience award.
OTHER NOTES AROUND TOWN
Manager Nick McCabe has left The Gotham Group and is setting up new digs at Anonymous Content.
Writer/producer Ben York Jones has signed with Paradigm. Jones is the creator behind the 2018 series Everything Sucks on Netflix.
Gersh has signed actress Moon Choi who starred in this year’s Sundance film Bedford Park. Additionally Gersh has also signed actress, comedian, and podcaster Christina Kirkman. Kirkman hosts the podcast Life’s a Joke and has a large social media following.
MUSIC NOTES
DJ YDG is now represented by The Gongaware Group. YDG has been big on the club scene lately headlining places like Exchange LA. On spotify YDG boasts roughly 1.1 million listeners.
SPORTS NOTES
Chicago Bears guard Jordan McFadden is now agented by Athletes First.
Rosenhaus Sports has signed Pittsburgh Steelers wide receiver Calvin Austin III.
New York Liberty forward Isabelle Harrison is now repped by FirstPick Management.
CASTING NOTES
Winona Ryder, Chris Sarandon, and Noah Taylor have joined the cast of Wednesday for season 3. This marks a reunion for Ryder with her Beetlejuice Beetlejuice co-star Jenna Ortega and filmmaker Tim Burton. This will also be a reunion for Tim Burton with Sarandon who voiced Jack Skellington in The Nightmare Before Christmas.
Ryan Coogler’s reboot of The X-Files has officially received a pilot order at Hulu. Danielle Deadwyler is set to star and Jennifer Yale as the showrunner.
According to Deadline White Lotus season 3 star Aimee Lou Wood is set to star in a new adaptation of Jane Eyre. Wood would play the titular heroine in the new series and is being written by Succession writer Miriam Battye.
