Notes from the Rep Biz - 6-1-2018
A BlacKkKlansman star to CAA, a controversial star is dropped by her agency (you know who), rising music stars get new reps, and a Fast and the Furious star gets a new agency. All this and more in today’s edition of Notes from the Rep Biz!
At CAA:
Actor Corey Hawkins has signed with Elan Ruspoli. Hawkins was a Tony nominee in 2017 for Best Actor in Six Degrees of Separation. He is also one of the stars of Spike Lee’s BlacKkKlansman, which just won the Grand Prix at Cannes and will be released in August.
Country music star Jackie Lee has signed with Michael Bryan. Lee is a star on the rise. She’ll next be seen in Barry Jenkins’ adaptation of James Baldwin’s If Beale Street Could Talk.
At ICM:
It was like watching dominoes fall on Tuesday morning as Roseanne Barr let loose a racist tweet, and subsequently lost her show and was dropped by her agency, ICM Partners. As of this writing she remains repped by publicist James Moore at Full Moon and Hightide Productions.
At UTA:
Rapper Dave East has signed with Peter DeSantis. East’s tracks “Paranoia: A true story” and “Paranoia 2” debuted at number one on iTunes. His album “Wrote my Way Out,” with Lin Manuel Miranda, went gold last month.
