More Pro Athletes Investing in Esports

3 time NBA champions, Steph Curry and Andre Igoudala, have recently invested in multi game esports organization Swift, which is the parent company of one of the most popular esports teams, Team Solo Mid.  Curry and Igoudala are part of a $37 million investment into the organization led by Silicon Valley based venture capital firm, Bessemer Venture Partners.  Former NFL Quarterback and Hall of Famer, Steve Young is also part of the investment group.

Curry and Iguodala are not the only Warriors to join the esports phenom.  Kevin Durant, their current teammate is also involved in the gaming scene as a minority owner of Vision Venture Partners, the company started by former NBA star Rick Fox to back his esports team Echo Fox.

The NBA itself is no stranger to the esports community, as they launched the NBA 2K League this past May, with 17 of their 30 franchises having a team of digital athletes competing for a top prize of $300,000.

ELEAGUE x U.S. Air Force

Turner Broadcasting and WME/IMG’s esports league, ELEAGUE, has signed a multi-tournament marketing deal with the U.S. Air Force.  The deal will feature U.S. Air Force branding, commercials and video collaboration with league participants and will be featured across all broadcast platforms.

In addition to commercials and brand integration, the Air Force will also be the official presenter of the CounterStrike: Global Offensive championship trophy.

The Air Force is not the only military division involved in esports, as the United States Navy has recently teamed up with NBA 2K’s Memphis Grizz Gaming and the Indiana Army National Guard has partnered with NBA 2K’s Indiana Pacers Gaming.
