Series Snapshot ~ 6/11/2026

Welcome to the Series Snapshot, a weekly deep dive into the shows topping the streaming charts.

This week Tina Feys dramedy The Four Seasons stepped aside for a new docuseries, Michael Jackson: The Verdict, which took the top spot in viewership. Likely fueled in part by the recent Michael film, the three part documentary revisits Michael Jackson’s high-profile 2005 child molestation trial, which remains a contentious debate to this day. Director Nick Green focused on the Gavin Arvizo case, which ultimately ended in acquittal. While no footage of the actual criminal trial exists, The Verdict reconstructs the events through new, never before seen testimony from jury members, staff, and journalists, who share first-hand accounts of what they saw, some with new allegations. Critical reception is mixed, and largely “review bombed” by Jackson’s dedicated fanbase. The docuseries takes an extremely neutral stance, making no explicit suggestions and giving equal screen time to accusers and skeptics. This attempt to please both sides of the issue may have backfired, and many are frustrated by the failed opportunity to examine celebrity status in the justice system. Michael JacksonThe Verdict was created by David Herman

Hulu’s top show of the week is also a debut docuseries, Squatters: Get the F*** Out of My House. Presented by ABC Studios, Squatters is a six part true crime series, examining the harrowing ordeals of homeowners dealing with squatters occupying their properties, a scenario seemingly experiencing an upward trend in recent years. Each twenty-two minute episode investigates the ways in which squatters manipulate and exploit tenant protection law to illegally (or in their view, technically legally) take over homes. In one shocking case, a homeowner was even arrested for changing the locks on her own property while it was inhabited illegally. The new series is receiving excellent reviews, particularly for its fast paced, highly bingeable, and rage-inducing stories. Viewers are also fascinated by the major gaps in real-estate law, and see the docuseries as an eye-opening education on property protection. Squatters: Get the F*** Out of My House was executive produced by Kelly Ripa and Mark Consuelos

At HBO, adult swim animated series Rick and Morty takes the most watched title, as Euphoria  euphoria begins to dwindle. Season nine debuted on cable in the U.S. on May 24th, but is currently only available to stream in the UK and Europe. American audiences will have to wait until June 15th for the new episodes to appear on their HBO platforms. This makes its debut all the more impressive, driven only by viewership outside its home country. The sci-fi comedy is receiving phenomenal reviews, including a near perfect score on several aggregates, and is called a major comeback by fans and critics. Praise stems from the show leaning back into serialization, with tight, self contained adventures and snappy writing. Where previous seasons featured action-heavy sequences, new episodes more deeply examine the Smith family’s dysfunctional emotional dynamics. Rick and Morty stars Ian Cardoni, Harry BeldenChris ParnellSarah Chalke, and Spencer Grammer, and was created by Dan Harmon and Justin Roiland

Off Campus continues to sweep, taking its fourth consecutive win on Amazon Prime Video. The steamy college romance’s popularity is driven organically, as new viewers continue to start the series even a month after all eight episodes dropped. Off Campus has received universal acclaim for its clever writing, subversion of tropes, and consent-focused sex positivity. Viewers are captivated by the electric chemistry between Hannah and Garrett, played brilliantly by Ella Bright and Belmont CameliOff Campus’ main demographic is women aged 18-34, and certainly skews toward the female gaze, but the series manages to avoid “wish fulfillment” labels by presenting dual perspectives from both characters. Off Campus has been renewed for a second season, slated for April or May of 2027, which will shift to a new couple of Allie (Mika Abdalla) and Dean (Stephen Kalyn). Off Campus was created by Lousia Levy, and based on the novels by Elle Kennedy.

AppleTV’s heist drama Your Friends & Neighbors has had a perfect season run on the platform, maintaining the most watched title for eleven weeks straight. Season two concluded last week with thrilling twists- after a violent mishap, Coop (Jon Hamm) and friends Nick (Mark Tallman) and Barney (Hoon Lee) are forced to partake in a criminal coverup that sets up season three with higher stakes than ever before. The finale episode, “The Night of the Hunter”, received rave reviews from critics, but mixed opinions from general audiences. Viewers are frustrated with some inconsistency in the writing, including mistakes that characters wouldn’t have made, and the lack of a conclusion in setting up for the next season. Looking back on season two, it’s clear that James Marsden was a key force behind the show’s resurgence, and his portrayal of billionaire Owen Ashe will go down as one of his greatest roles. Marsden will likely not return for season three, but Neighbors will be adding to its cast with the talents of Michelle Monaghan and Joshua Jackson, who join as regulars. Your Friends & Neighbors was created by Jonathan Tropper.

On Disney Plus, controversial k-drama Perfect Crown is again most watched, ahead of High Potential and Maul: Shadow Lord. The limited romance series experienced a global surge after backlash around its penultimate episode featuring unintended historical inaccuracies that undermined South Korean identity and sovereignty. After heavy petitioning, Perfect Crown’s network decided to edit the episodes, either removing or replacing audio, or deleting scenes in their entirety, further driving curiosity and interest in the series. Many viewers also opted to wait until all episodes had become available to begin the series, causing a second wave in streaming, and Disney’s recent addition of more international subtitles also contributed to the show’s accessibility.  Despite all the turbulence, Perfect Crown is still highly praised for its stunning production design, top tier chemistry between leads IU, and Byon Woo-Seok, and smartly written script, which balances political intrigue and corporate power dynamics with wit and urgency. Perfect Crown was created by Yoo Ji-Won
