Box Office Round-Up ~ 3/2/26

Despite less than stellar reviews from critics and audiences, Scream 7 arrived in theaters this past weekend to a whopping $63.2 million. It’s the highest grossing opening weekend in the seven movie franchise, which to its credit has never really underperformed (only 2011’s Scream 4 failed to crack $100 million worldwide) since the original Scream hit theaters thirty years ago. It’s unlikely we’ve seen (or heard, via his many phone calls) the last of Ghostface on the big screen.

GOAT and Wuthering Heights moved to second and third place with a respective $12 million and $6.7 million. Both movies have now grossed over $70 million after three weekends in theaters. A pair of concert documentaries took the last two spots in the top five, with Trafalgar’s Twenty One Pilots: More Than We Ever Imagined grossing roughly $3.7 million in its debut. Baz Luhrmann’s EPiC: Elvis Presley in Concert expanded from IMAX to wide release to bring in $3.5 million, clearing $7.8 million after two weekends.

Speaking of IMAX, the biggest of the big screens will see two new releases jockeying for theater space this coming weekend. First off is Maggie Gyllenhaal’s directorial debut The Bride!, a Frankenstein/Bonnie and Clyde mashup starring Jessie Buckley and Christian Bale. Additionally, Pixar and Disney offer up the talking animal adventure Hoppers, co-written and directed by Daniel Chong of We Bare Bears fame.
