Box Office Round-Up ~ 6/15/26
When Steven Spielberg’s name is on the poster, it’s a decent bet that the movie in question will be number one at the box office. Disclosure Day was no exception, opening to a solid $44.5 million. Spielberg has had more misses than hits at the box office over the past decade, with only Ready Player One and Lincoln clearing $100 million domestically since 2010. That said, Disclosure Day seems primed to be a modest success, which is no small feat for a non-IP release in 2026.
Curry Barker’s Obsession continued its remarkable box office run, moving back up to second place with $19 million in its fifth weekend, putting it at $188 million total in the U.S. It will likely clear $200 million domestically and $300 million worldwide within the next week. Scary Movie took third place with a sophomore weekend gross of $14.2 million, while Backrooms cleared the $160 million mark after three weekends with $11.5 million.
Masters of the Universe continued to disappoint, moving down to fifth place in its second weekend with $8.9 million, for a domestic total of just $46 million so far. It shouldn’t expect the box office to show it any mercy this coming weekend, as Disney and Pixar look to dominate theaters with the much-anticipated (and heavily marketed) Toy Story 5.
