Box Office Round-Up ~ 4/20/26
The Super Mario Galaxy Movie continued its stellar box office run in its third weekend, bringing in $36.4 million to sail past $350 million domestically. It’s now comfortably the highest grossing movie of 2026 so far, with little box office competition for at least another weekend. (The Devil Wears Prada 2 is the next likely release to unseat it, on 5/1.)
The second highest grossing movie of the year took second place once again, as Project Hail Mary grossed $20.5 million, for a five-weekend domestic total of $285 million. The sole new release in the top five was Lee Cronin’s The Mummy, which took third place with a modest $13.5 million. The Drama took fourth place with $4.8 million, putting it just shy of $40 million overall, while You, Me & Tuscany moved to fifth place in its second weekend with $3.8 million.
The aforementioned The Devil Wears Prada 2 highlights the first weekend of May, but before then we have a handful of new releases to wrap up April, including the wide release of Mother Mary from writer/director David Lowery (The Green Knight), dark comedy Over Your Dead Body starring Jason Segel and Samara Weaving, and the Michael Jackson biopic Michael.
